I attended the Dogfish Head night at Novare Res last night. Of the 5 beers I tried, I reviewed three of them.
Pangaea
A- / 4.05

Served in my Uprising Chalice. It has a burnt orange/rust color and small head of tiny bubbles. Consistent lacing as the head settles. It has a slightly fruity, floral aroma with a hint a spice. Very pleasant. The flavor is very different. There is some malty sweetness a bit of a nutty flavor. There are certainly some hops present, and I can taste some spices in the aftertaste. All in all, it’s a tasty mix of flavors. It’s a medium-bodied beer that leaves a bit of a coating in my mouth. I could really drink a bunch of these. I’ll have to pick up a bottle the next time I see one available.
Burton Baton
B+ / 3.8
look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.5 | drink: 3.5
Pours an orange/ruby color, with a bit of red mixed in. Slight head of of off-white bubbles. It has a slightly earthy, yeast small. Burton Baton has a strong taste; lots of alcohol, a bit of earthy spice, and something I always classify as a musty flavor. It tastes old, but that’s not bad. It has a slightly lower and medium body and a bit above average carbonation. Interesting. I wouldn’t drink a bunch of these, but 12 or 24 ounces would be just right.
75 Minute IPA
B+ / 3.95

Served from the first cask of 75 min IPA in Maine; poured into my Uprising Chalice. Pours a rusty orange color with a slight head of small white bubbles. Aroma is full of subtle hops. It doesn’t overpower, but it is still quite strong. The taste is great. Not as hoppy as I thought it would be, but the hops are still there. You can also certainly taste the maple syrup that was added to the cask. As expected, there is low carbonation; also has a light body. This is incredibly drinkable. You could keep ordering these all night long. Very enjoyable. If a cask is tapped in your area, it is worth seeking out. But personally, I enjoyed Dogfish’s Squall IPA more than his one.
