In the past week or so, I’ve read High Fidelity and watched the film adaptation. Inspired by Rob’s frequent use of Top 5 lists in the story, and since I know more about films than books, I submit to you my top 5 favorite films set in Chicago.
There you have it; three classics, a newer romantic comedy, and a semi-obscure documentary. What are your favorite films set in Chicago?

On Saturday, I found a nice white linen jacket at the Portland Salvation Army. I’ve always wanted a linen jacket, and this one fit perfectly! So, despite a stain on one cuff, I bought it. Hopefully dry cleaning will remove the stain.
I’m not sure what I’ll wear to go along with the new jacket. I have a nice pair of bright blue pants from LL Bean that I think will go well, but they aren’t very fancy. LL Bean and Land’s End both have some nice dress pants I’m thinking about purchasing, either in a darker blue or green. For a top, I am leaning towards a pale yellow Oxford shirt. I want pink silk pocket square; nothing says classy like a silk pocket square. Lastly, I want to get this bow tie. I like bow ties much mroe than regular neck ties. Although, I’m of the opinion that a white linen jacket is the second best garment to wear with an ascot (a red velvet smoking jacket is the best), so perhaps I’ll need to invest in one of those as well…
Here’s an image of our second batch, the California common. When I got home from work today, there was foam bubbling up through the fermentation lock, so I hooked up a hose to pipe the excess foam off into a bucket. We should be able to reattach the lock tonight or tomorrow morning.

Our first batch of beer, the Beer Drinks You Red, has been bottled! Our carboy filled 1 growler, 4 22oz bombers and 33 12oz bottles; quite a haul! We’ve already begun brewing our second batch, an as-yet-unnamed California common (aka steam beer). Like the red, this brew will ferment for one week, then condition for four weeks in the bottle.
